Indian Bajot Table
Bajot tables (or pooja chowki as they are sometimes known) are beautiful, sometimes hand-painted, tables that were topped with statues of gods and goddesses to protect the home, family and farmland. In Northern India, they were also used as low dining tables in traditional Indian havelis. Each evening, families would sit on the floor and enjoy hearty, fragrant meals together. This vintage bajot has been reimagined as a low table for your contemporary space, perhaps a coffee table or children’s writing table. Crafted from solid teak and washed in a gentle bleach, this piece would make the perfect addition to a coastal interior.
